Incredible Røros – The Unique UNESCO World City Break

Want to experience something truly unique for the weekend? Then head to Røros, Norway’s leading UNESCO World Heritage destination, made famous by it’s mining history and now carving a niche for itself as a centre for gourmet food and amazing hospitality.

This three-night city break offers you something very different from most Scandinavian city break products. Røros is
one of the most popular visitor attractions in Norway and a regular stop off destination for explorers and adventurers
alike. If you are into all things outdoors, including outdoor wear… then Røros is the place for you.

Check in and Dinner
Following arrival at Trondheim Vaernes airport, you will transfer to Røros. The journey takes approximately 2 and half hours, where you will travel through some incredible and truly wonderful mountain scenery. On arrival in Røros, you will check into the Vertshuset Røros which is an exclusive apartment hotel located in the centre of Røros and just 6 minutes walk from the railway station. This amazing accommodation offers rooms and apartments with free Wi-Fi and private parking. Vertshuset Røros’ in-house restaurant serves à la carte dishes as well as snacks. After settling in, guests will enjoy dinner where a delicious menu of local cuisine awaits. 

Experience Røros
Following breakfast, guests will visit the amazing mining museum at Smelthytta where an audio guide is provided. This tour gives you a real insight into the former times of Røros, which was born as a mining town and trading post. Following lunch, guests can enjoy strolling around the amazing streets and experience wonderful architecture and quaint shops such as Potteriet, Lysgaard, Per Sverre Dahl, Husfliden, LysstraVle and Røros Tweed where art, pottery, traditional hand craft and the famous tweed wool blankets are on sale. Stop by Frost, Det Gule Huset and NY to browse through a great selection of fashion clothing, and Mia & Mads, Sport 1, Røros Sport and Lanulvva for more specialized outdoor clothing. At Domus Shopping Mall you can find great shopping opportunities. After your tour of Røros, you will gather at 19:00 where we have arranged for an
evening of Beer Tasting, where you can sample locally brewed beers with local brewers. Dinner will follow at the amazing Peder Hiort Mathus restaurant.

Gourmet Safari
Following breakfast, guests can enjoy some free time before gathering at the tourist information office at 12:00 before setting off on a guided tour of Røros which includes a Local Food Safari ending at Kaffestuggu, the town’s oldest café and traditional restaurant located in the old town centre. After lunch guests will pay a visit to the famous St Olav’s Mining Museum. Guests will then head back to Vertshuset for dinner.

After a breakfast, guests will check-out and head back to Trondheim Vaernes Airport.
