Experience the Delights of Mountain Life at Skjækerhytta Cabin
Nestled at the northwestern end of Lake Skjækervatnet, Skjækerhytta cabin offers a spectacular view of Snåsa's highest mountain peak, Skjækerhatten Mountain (1139 meters above sea level). Here, you can indulge in the simple joys of mountain living, enjoy self-caught trout for dinner, and recharge your spirits with delightful hikes in the surrounding area.
Skjækerhytta cabin serves as an ideal base for summit treks and both short and long walks throughout the year. During your cabin rental, you'll have access to a boat, providing excellent fishing opportunities on Lake Skjækervatnet without the need for a fishing license.
Skjækerhytta is also a convenient stopover for those journeying from cabin to cabin in Skjækra. For experienced hikers seeking a more challenging summit trek, Skjækerhatten Mountain awaits. However, this hike is demanding for a day trip, so we recommend an overnight stay at Skjækerhytta cabin, strategically situated for this purpose.
The cabin comfortably accommodates four people and features two bedrooms within its 50-square-meter space. Additionally, 1-2 people can sleep on the couch.

From there, in winter, you can follow the marked winter trail to Norway's geographic midpoint, but the final stretch from the midpoint to the cabin is unmarked.
From Snåsa, take the exit from RV 763 at Breide and drive towards Imsdalen to the Roktdalsvegen tollgate. Follow Roktdalsvegen to Ålnessetra and exit the road. Drive to the parking lot at the road's end, which is signposted. Follow the Skjækerstien from the parking lot in Roktdalen, around Nåvatn, and onwards to the cabin. The distance is approximately 12 km. Roktdalen is not plowed in winter, so on snowy roads, the distance is 21 km.
