The antidote to emotional ‘belastning’: Building emotional resilience

In caring professions, such as social work, education, and health care, there are high expectations that can generate high-stress.

The phenomenon of 'emosjonell belastning,' or emotional burden, is the result of an imbalance between the level of stress and the level of resilience in individuals, teams, and organizations.

From this, there is a risk of developing maladaptive coping strategies, burnout, feeling depleted, lonely, and powerless, which contributes to mental health issues and long-term sick leave.

On an individual level, this can even negatively impact one's professional identity development.

This workshop will briefly present the background for research being initiated on this topic, followed by an exercise to experience a process for building a greater degree of emotional resilience.

General discussion and an invitation to participate in a program at the center of this research project will close the workshop.
